All right. Yesterday was the 18th and there was the Wheel of Time all ready for us to watch last night. So we did. But I had had some warning about it and so I was prepared for what was coming. We knew. And to be fair, they did quite well with some aspects of […]

Arthurian Fantasy
One of my all time favorite series is The Dark is Rising by Susan Cooper. These are children’s books and indeed I fell in love with them as a child. They bring back Christmas in my father’s house. Being the beloved daughter. They transport me to Wales or England and I am once again caught […]
Wrongthink
Ask anyone who knows me. They will tell you I am opinionated. Sometimes extremely so. But this year I had the opportunity to work with people who think the opposite of me. It was really hard at first. I was sort of angry with God that He would ask me to do it. So when […]
Jubilee
So on January 16, 2021, I will turn 50 years old. It’s a big deal for me. I know I am not the only person to ever turn 50. But in my head, that’s the year I become old. Sorry. It’s kind of a line I’ve drawn. I have lived half a century. I remember […]
Jim Butcher’s LiveJournal
I sort of hate Jim Butcher right now. A lot. See, I read his livejournal, which is a blog about writing. He details there what he did to write Dresden. For those of you who don’t know, Jim was a student at the University of Oklahoma and enrolled in a creative writing class. He got […]
Progress Report
Ok, so I have some good news and some bad news. Bad news first. I’m not done yet. I wrote as much as I could but I had to go back and change a lot. I took out a character and merged her with another character. I also am rewriting a whole section. I really […]
Nanowrimo Prep
Trying to finish my first draft of book 2 this November. I won a writing retreat for the week of Nov 4 and will be in Vermont working on it, but I’m also trying to finish my edits on the ghost book before Nov 4. Which is fun. But today I am doing Nano prep. […]
Back in Kindle Unlimited
So I went wide. And I sold one book. LOL. One ebook in 3 months from Barnes & Noble, the day I had my book signing. All my other sales were from Amazon. So yeah, I quit. I’m back in KDP Select, which means you can download the book from Kindle Unlimited. I might try […]
Best Fantasy 2019 + Book Signing
I was doing my taxes when I got the email. Nothing in the world is better than going from the abyss of taxes to a notification your book won “Best Fantasy 2019” from Indies Today. I sat there in shock. I drive a Mini Cooper and had just left the tax lady’s office. I sat […]
All the Things!
My big project at work will be finished tomorrow. And a new big project has presented itself, which is wonderful and exciting. And somehow I have to finish an audiobook before I start the new big project. So between Tuesday, the 7th and the 15th, I’m recording and finishing this puppy. Then I have to […]
So I Will
I was on Facebook this morning and I saw a quote by CS Lewis that struck me. It was along the lines of “You are being tested by God not because he doesn’t know the love you have in you, but so that you will know it.” I’m paraphrasing, but that was the message. And […]
Why I Wrote Sorrowfish
I was talking to Ben Lo at church this morning and he mentioned I needed to tell this story. Ok. I’ll tell it. I started thinking about writing in 1998. I was on the rocks with my husband. At that point, my life was in complete turmoil and I was trying to get it back. […]
Poco
My husband and son are allergic to animals. My son was actually allergic to grass and trees and shellfish, oats, eggs, you name it. Soy. Pretty much any meat but beef. I call him my son. Technically, Zach is my stepson. But he’s mine. Mine. A little dog helped that happen. Rod and I got […]
Envy
I think I mentioned the Resistance that comes when you try to create something. It’s hit me hard as I’m editing this book. Everything that could go wrong has. I talked about it in The Avalanche of Battles and Stab it with a Fork. So today I wanna talk about another thing that can come […]
Happy 2019 – Adventures in Wellness
Yes I’m still here. My mom went in the hospital with a heart attack. It was a wake-up call for me in more ways than one. I spent the first week of December in the hospital with her. Then I got the flu
